USRA Research Fellow - NSERC
(May 2020 – August 2020)

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most common cancer diagnosed in Canadian men, with about 25,000 new cases per year. The gold standard for PCa diagnosis and prognosis is the ultrasound (US)-guided needle biopsy with pathologic grading. The biopsy procedure is not patient-specific; instead, it involves taking "blind" biopsy cores, leading to frequent re-biopsy or overdiagnosis of insignificant cancer. There is an acute need for patient-specific targeting techniques that have a higher chance of detecting early aggressive PCa. In this project, I developed a turnkey system where subtle variations of backscattered US signals from a tissue location over a short period, i.e., temporal enhanced US, are used to detect the underlying tissue's physical properties using a machine-learning framework. In other words, the system enables the physician to detect the points in the prostate that need biopsy in real-time.

Head Teaching Assistant - UBC CPSC
(January 2019 – June 2019)

Picture
I am very passionate about helping people reach their full potential. That is why I was the head teaching assistant for CPSC 221 (Basic Algorithms and Data Structures) and CPSC 261(Basics of Computer Systems). As a TA, I was responsible for solving problems for 40+ students during tutorials to assist them in applying the course's core principles. I was also responsible for leading weekly lab sessions and office hours to help students understand key course concepts. I successfully received an average of 5/5 in student TA feedbacks by preparing extensively for each class and delivering my lectures in a straightforward and easy to understand manner.

Owner - Ototutor

(September 2015 – Present)

When I was 17, I realized that many high school students needed more guidance to get into top universities. To meet this underserved need, I started an affordable solution by hiring university students and connecting them with high school students who needed mentorship. By employing some of the most brilliant people I knew as tutors, advertising through Facebook and Google, and automating different parts of the process, such as client bookings, payments, and session reviews, I generated more than $40k in revenue in the first year. To this day, Ototutor has successfully helped more than 100 students get into top Canadian universities.

Co-founder - Philomath

I am passionate about leveraging technology to increase the accessibility of education for students in my community. So, when the students I tutored repeatedly discussed how difficult it was to find and discern great tutors from bad ones, I decided to develop a solution to help them find exceptional tutors. As such, I decided to found Philomath to enable students to find great tutors by using a tool that allows them to view tutorials from tutors before booking sessions. As the Founder of Philomath, I am responsible for developing its product roadmap and go-to-market strategy. I am driving product development by mobilizing a team of 4 developers and adopting the Scrum methodology to define the roadmap and prioritize user stories. Philomath is currently under development and will be shipped and delivered soon. Check out the link below to learn more about the project.
